Transitions (Übergänge) accompanies children through all transition phases on their way to adulthood.
In the phases in which one stage of development has almost been completed but the next one has not yet been reached, children are often insecure, frightened or feel inadequate and unable to cope with the unknown situation ahead. Transitions helps in all childhood situations that are associated with excessive demands on the child. The uncertainty can be so great that physical symptoms and illnesses become manifest, starting with unspecific complaints, such as headaches or stomach aches, to recurring inflammations (typically middle ear infections).
But also psychologically induced wetting or a relapse into early childhood behavior, as well as apparently inexplicable aggressive behavior towards family members or peers can often be observed. During puberty, the children's essence transitions help to ease the transition to growing up. It supports self-confidence and stability.
Typical stages are age-appropriate: the transition from baby to toddler (from crawling to running with the accompanying defiant phases), entering kindergarten (leaving the nest), switching from kindergarten to school child (this phase can start at the age of 4) , the transition to secondary schools and puberty.
In life situations that suddenly and unexpectedly change a child's world of experience (moving to a new area, divorce or separation of parents, death of a close relative or pet) and which literally pull the familiar ground away from under your feet, the children's essence transitions should also be used.
